Linn State Tech Will Be First College to Drug Test ENTIRE Student Body

Well, day-um!  That seems a little asshole-y to me but hey, I'm a pretty liberal chick...

Linn State Technical College in Missouri has chosen to pop the cherry of the drug testing whore who uses illegal substances in college.  They will forever hold the title of being the first college to drug test an entire student body (that includes testing for alcohol) at $50 a test to be paid for by students.  Interesting...

The lame-o dean told the AP that, "We want them to be prepared" for the "drug-free workplace" they'll encounter in the real world.  So, it looks like they'll get to experience the "real world" a little quicker than other college students, not too sure that's a good thing.

Granted, I grew up in a time where drugs weren't considered as "evil" as they are now.  We scoffed at Reefer Madness type flicks and Dazed and Confused was more a reality than a movie.  But that was then and I'm not into taking everyone on a ride in my wayback machine this morning.

A NARC student defended the testing saying that, "I don't think a lot of us are bent out of shape, I think it's a good idea. It helps us prepare for the real world."  I'm not pro-drug but I'm not exactly anti-drug either - I don't think that everyone should be drug-tested in the name of higher learning though.  It just reeks of violating civil liberties.

We'll see if other colleges follow suit here or if they can even continue on with their plan for a testing bonanza (the Missouri Civil Liberties Association is already threatening action against the school).

Frankly, it seems a little Orwellian to me - but like I said, I'm a pretty liberal chick.
