Americans Pissed at Cyndi Lauper's National Anthem Flub

In the wake of 9/11, I think there were more important things to think about but as we all know Americans are SUPER patriotic so anyone who dares eff up their anthem is in for years of bashing...

The latest star to take a public beating over the anthem is none other than Cyndi Lauper.  I grew up in the 80s and this chick was IT!  Before auto-tune, before nip slips and before the circus that is Lady Gaga music actually meant something - Cyndi, along with Madonna, personified that in spades.

Enough about that though - here's what went down:  She sang: Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts, we watched as our flag was still streaming'.  Whereas the correct line is: 'Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming.'  On YouTube I noticed that about 1/2 the people commenting didn't even realize where the flub heard round the world was - mind you they were oddly still pretty pissed about it.  Seriously, some of the comments are just dripping with rage and hate.

Obvi I think the screw up sucked and don't get it twisted, Canucks are also uber-patriotic - but it's not like she pulled a Roseanne, grabbed her crotch and spit on the ground.  She screwed up a line...one line!  The more commonly screwed up line mind you.  Let's not piss our pants about it.
