Yertle the Turtle is too Political for Schools - Dr Suess BANNED!
All right, Imma do a little something different here and post an open letter...peep this...
Dear school districts,
Dr. Seuss was probably NOT trying to make rash hardcore political statements in Yertle the Turtle and if he did, I'm sure it was unintentional. Just because teachers can spin a sentence to make it "harmful" (and by harmful I mean inquisitive) to our children doesn't mean we should be banning shit. Stop it. You guys are being fucking ridiculous.
Love, Captain awesome.
Allow me to indulge you in the facts -
There is a line in the book Yertle the Turtle that says, "I know up on top you are seeing great sights, but down here on the bottom, we too should have rights." Apparently, that is sooooo brutally politically incorrect that Canadian middle school teachers are being BANNED from using the quote in teaching materials.
I'm sorry...What?
If a little kid is still reading Dr. Suess I doubt that he's interested in politricks lol. Let alone rhyming, non-obvious "political" statements. Get a grip motherfuckers. This ain't 1984 (Orwell shout out...) CHILL!
Sorry Dr. Suess, you are a child book genius who doesn't deserve this PC bullshit - apparently we're all just apologetic idiots now...It's not you dude, it's us, I'm so sorry...
RIP.
