Richest Animals in the World
It's a dog's life, yo!
Check out the list of the world's richest animals and why some of them have more money than you and I could ever dream of:
#1. Gunther the German Shepherd Net worth: $150,000,000
A German Countess by the name of Karlotta Liebenstein left £43m to her dog when she died in 1992. Fun fact: In July 2000, Madonna sold her eight bedroom Miami villa for 11million to agents acting on behalf of a German Shepherd dog called Gunther IV. Hmmm...
#2. Kalu The Chimpanzee Net worth: around $85,000,000
When Australian swimming champion, Frank O'Neill, was away at the Sydney Olympics - his wife (his very rich wife) decided to leave her fortune to her pet chimp. Whether or not the chimp was aware she and Mr O'Neill were rivals is unclear. Sadly, I read Kalu's owner has since gone broke and therefore she will be left penniless like so many other street monkeys.
#3. Trouble the Maltese Net worth: about $15,000,000
Leona Helmsley, the woman known as New York's "Queen of Mean", might have been hell to work for but she sure took good care of her snowy white toy Maltese terrier. Trouble will live out the rest of her years in some style. In death, she will be reunited with her owner when she is buried by her side in the Helmsley Mausoleum. Yuck.
#4. Tina And Kate The Collies Net worth: $7350,000
Nora Hardwell, who died the day before her 90th birthday, ensured her two dogs would live out the rest of their days in luxury by leaving them the run of her home and five acres of land in Peasedown St John. Her will stipulated that a carer must be employed to look after the two dogs, and that the house must be kept clean at all times.
#5. Jasper the Mutt Net worth : about $300,000
Aw - rags to little doggy riches! Heiress Diana Myburgh, rescued Jasper and cared for him until she died in 1995. The dog now lives in splendor with Mrs Myburgh's former son-in-law, who invested Jasper's initial bequest on the stock market and has seen it increase three-fold.
#6. Tinker the Cat Net worth : about $160,000
After befriending an elderly widow, Margeret Layne who died in 2003, Tinker the stray was given the run of her three-bedroom house in Harrow as well as a trust fund, with trustees appointed to deliver him milk and food daily. Though mo' money mo' problems my friends, the cat reportedly received numerous death threats from humans who were jealous of his windfall after his mommy died.
#7. Porgy, Pride, Joy and Donald the Cats Net worth : £17,500 each
The late bookshop queen Christina Foyle, left a £59 million estate for her cats and bequethed them to her housekeeper.
#8. Silverstone the Tortoise Net worth : £16,667
He was another beneficiary of Christina Foyle who left £100,000 to handyman, Anthony Scillitoe to take care of the little guy.
#9. Top Cat and Matilda Net worth : about $17,000 each
When a retired librarian kicked the bucket in 2004, she left most of her money to her cats - she was notoriously cheap throughout her life but apparently saw nothing wrong with splurging on her animals.
#10.Angus the Cow and Larry the Lamb Net worth : about $13,000 each
The Queen Mother herself set up this trust for the lucky livestock as she had a longstanding interest in the Aberdeen Angus breed...um - okay?
There you have it - and we thought youth was wasted on the young...when it actually turns out money is wasted on the rich.
