RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman

You know, when I was a kid, Hollywood was the Hollywood of movie stars and artists.  Oh sure, there was some shady shit going on behind the scenes of course but it was still all jazz hands on the surface.

It was different you see - the way people looked at movies - there was still magic.

Well ladies and germs, the magic has been gone for some time now and has unfortunately given way to nothing more than a Hollywood that is krawling with Kardashians and flooded with fuck ups.

Only a few actors and artists out there have upheld a certain amount of dignity in a culture industry obsessed with worthlessness.  Philip Seymour Hoffman was one of them.

The actor, 46 years old, died yesterday of an apparent heroin overdose.  Hoffman had struggled with addiction for years but after being 23 years sober he admitted (last year) that he had relapsed with heroin.

His legacy of movies is astounding.  From character roles in Boogie Nights, Magnolia and Almost Famous to comedies like Along Came Polly and State and Main the guy was always on point.  Disappearing into roles despite (or maybe in spite of?) his non-hollywood looks.  Though he had his demons, he was one of the ones with true talent and dignity and, sadly, the list keeps getting shorter...

Hoffman's body was discovered in his Greenwich Village apartment bathroom by a friend.

Editor's Note:  Fuck heroin, man!  It is a shame, a DAMN shame, that he went out like that.  :(

Paul Walker Dies In Fatal Car Crash

Aw man...that's pretty shocking and definitely hella sad!

Paul Walker, 40 year old star of the Fast and the Furious franchise, died in a car crash north of LA yesterday.

The sexy star had been at a charity event and was a passenger in a car driven by a friend.  The red porsche crashed into a a light pole and tree and instantly burst into flames.  The unnamed driver (thus far) also died in the crash.

Walker is survived by a 15 year old daughter and his many movies...Joyride was a particular fave of mine...

RIP Candy Cane.

Chris Kelly Dead at 34 (The Guy From Kris Kross who Wasn't Daddymac)

Oh daaaamn!  That shit was my jam back in the day!

Anyone who grew up in or around the nineties knows Chris Kelly.  He was half of a rap duo who wore their gear backwards and busted rhymes about jumping and missing buses.  They were second only to Kid and Play as gimmicky rapsters and had quite a run at musical infamy from 92-98.

He passed away yesterday in Atlanta.  No cause has been given.

Sad.  RIP.

UPDATE:  According to that nosy bitch Harvey, the rapper was using cocaine and heroin (speedballs) the night before he passed away.  Nothing is confirmed but it's likely the drugs at least played a part in his death.

Homeless Man Fatally Strangled For Stealing Toothpaste from CVS

That is sooooo not right...

In Chicago back in 2010, a homeless man named Anthony Kyser (pictured above) was strangled to death by Pedro Villarosa - the manager of a CVS store - and it's just now that the video surveillance has surfaced.  (I'm not posting it on here because I'm not into watching that sort of thing but you can watch it here if you want.)

"...the video appears to capture Kyser fleeing to the alley with the store manager close behind him. There's a brief struggle before Kyser hits the pavement, with the store manager on top of him.

Another man appears to punch and kick Kyser, at one point stepping down on his hand while the store manager remains atop Kyser. More bystanders join in, helping to hold Kyser down. Eventually, Kyser stops flailing his legs, the video shows."

They only say that some bystanders joined in...it was six people.  SIX PEOPLE!  What the hell is that about???

They helped hold the homeless man down while the manager strangled him to death.  His last words were, "I can't breathe."

Kyser's mother is suing CVS for the death - the manager claims that it was self defense.

Now I know that you can't steal shit, but let's have a little compassion people!  It's a fucking tube of toothpaste...NO ONE should ever have to die over a stupid tube of toothpaste.

Kate Middleton's Nurse Commits Suicide After Radio Hoax

This is sad...my ma was a nurse, they work HARD for long hours!    

TMZ is reporting that the two Aussie DJs, Mel Greig and Michael Christian, who pulled the phone prank on the hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge was staying have gone silent and "suspended themselves" after the nurse they fooled committed suicide.

The DJs had tricked nurse Jacintha Saldanha into connecting them to people treating Middleton by pretending to be Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth...those people then unintentionally spoke about Kate's condition on air. 

Jacintha's body was discovered this morning and is being called an "obvious suicide."

The CEO says the DJs "are both deeply shocked over the tragedy" and released this statement:

"SCA and 2Day FM are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the death of nurse Jacintha Saldanha from King Edward VII's Hospital...SCA and the hosts have decided that they will not return to their radio show until further notice out of respect for what can only be described as a tragedy."

Kate and Wills said via their rep that they are "deeply saddened" by the news and that "their thoughts and prayers are with Jacintha Saldanha's family, friends and colleagues at this very sad time."

The radio station has been in trouble in the past - the Kyle and Jackie O Show had previously pushed a 14 year old girl to admit that she was raped on air - and has advised the two DJs not to speak to the media.

RIP Jacintha Saldanha.  Very sad that it went down like this...

Roach Eating Contest Winner Dies (Possibly From Eating Roaches)

In a sad and yucky twist of fate a man has died after winning a roach eating contest in where else? Florida.

The stupid contest was held at a local reptile store, 30 people took part in it (though no one else got sick) and the grand prize was a python.

Is it just me or are we regressing???

Anywho, Edward Archbold (32 - pictured above), downed dozens of the little buggers and collapsed shortly after.  Though no cause has been determined for the death - the owner of the store feels "terribly awful."

The snake is now being held under Archbold's name and will go to his estate so hopefully his next of kin or whatevs digs pythons.

RIP buddy.  Shit way to go.

Epic Director Tony Scott Dead at 68

The AP is reporting that Tony Scott, Ridley Scott's brother, has allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a famous LA bridge.

The director was 68 years old.

Scott directed such classics as Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop 2, Enemy of the State, Crimson Tide, The Fan, Days of Thunder and one of my fave movies ever, True Romance to mention a few.  He was a formidable figure in Hollywood and was currently working on a sequel to Top Gun.  Scott also did work in TV on shows like Numbers and The Good Wife.

The suicide is still being investigated - the Vincent Thomas bridge he allegedly jumped from was featured in movies such as Charlie's Angels and Fast and the Furious.

I studied him quite a bit in film school (both of the brothers) and the legacy he leaves behind is astounding.  Sadly though, he also leaves behind a wife, actress Donna Scott and twin boys.  ABC News is reporting that he had been suffering from an inoperable brain tumor however his family denies this.

Gone but never forgotten...

Sherman Hemsley Has Passed Away

Sherman Hemsley (George Jefferson) has passed away in El Paso today according to TMZ.  He died in his home at the age of 74.  Some of you younger ones may know him from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air where he played multiple recurring roles...

Guy was a comedic GENIUS!

At the time of death, he was unmarried and had no kids.

Massacre In Colorado at the Dark Knight Rises Premiere...

What the fuck?

Last night, the worst mass shooting since Columbine took place in Colorado when a monster strolled into an Aurora Cineplex during the premiere of The Dark Knight Rises and "methodically" opened fire, killing 12 and injuring at least 50 movie-goers.  He set off a smoke bomb 30 mins. into the flick, entered through a side door and started shooting randomly.

24-year-old James Holmes (a former med student from San Diego pictured above - Via TMZ) was the shooter and was captured by police in the parking lot after a flood of 911 calls poured in from the theatre.  One of the victims was six-years-old...

The fucking psychopath donned a bullet-proof vest, a gas mask a la Bane and had a rifle and handgun on him upon arrest...he also had dyed red hair and told them he was the 'Joker.'

The cops searched his apartment today and the motherfucking place was "heavily" boobytrapped!  Who does that?

Kathryn Joosten From Desperate Housewives Passed Away - RIP Mrs. McCluskey!

Aw!  This makes me sad!

Kathryn Joosten - who played the AWESOME Mrs. McCluskey on Desperate Housewives has passed away from lung cancer, TMZ reports.

In a strange chain of events she had died of cancer on the finale of the series and now - in real life.  She had received two Emmy's for her work on DH - one in 2005 and one in 2008.

She passed away on Friday at the age of 72 and was surrounded by family.

RIP Mrs. McCluskey - you were a pretty cool chick!

Donna Summer has Died at 63

Donna Summer has passed away at the age of 63 from lung cancer, TMZ is reporting.

She had believed that she contracted the disease after her exposure to the toxic fumes from 9/11.

Hit maker Summer had kept her sickness out of the media and was working on a new album when she passed away in Florida earlier today.

I grew up with parents obsessed with Motown...they used to drag me around Detroit and the south to all the old theaters and hotspots and I even saw Summer when I was a teenager sing with Smokey Robinson at a dive bar in Memphis a little over a decade ago...

She sounded hot.

Meow, the fat cat that stole everyone's food hearts last month, has passed away from complications with his morbid obesity on Saturday.

At the ripe old age of two, Meow's owner had fattened him up more than Xtina on a buffet binge and when she was unable to care for him (she was all old and shit - 87) she gave him to a shelter.  They tried to put his ass on a kitty diet but alas, after losing only a couple of LBs the poor guy's clogged up heart gave out and he let go one last wheezy meeeoooorrwww.

RIP buddy!  This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you.

MCA of The Beastie Boys has Passed Away at 47

Wow!  My ass grew up on The Beastie Boys...

TMZ via GlobalGrind.com just broke that Adam Yauch aka MCA of the epic Beastie Boys has died.  He was 47 years old.

He had spent the last couple of years being treated for a cancerous gland but it's unknown if his cancer was related to his untimely passing.

He leaves behind a legacy of grammy award winning music, a wife and a daughter.

Dick Clark Passes Away at 82

Dick Clark died of a massive heart attack yesterday in Santa Monica, his spokesperson confirms.

The famed host of American Bandstand and Dick Clark's New Years Rockin' Eve was 82 years old and leaves behind a widow and his three children.

He was a pioneer of American music culture and was often cited as being the world's oldest teenager because of his consistently boyish looks.

Geraldo Blames Wearing a Hoody for Trayvon Martin's Death - VIDEO

Geraldo (I know, I didn't know this guy was still around either) was on Fox and Friends to talk nonsense with the other nonsense talkers on there and when the tragic case of Trayvon Martin came up he had some interesting really shitty words on the matter.

"I am urging the black and Latino youngsters particularly to not let their children go out wearing hoodies.  I think that the hoody is as much to blame for Trayvon Martin's death as George Zimmerman is."

Are you fucking kidding me?

So, the fact that the poor kid threw on a hoody to go get some Skittles is the problem???  Homey!  That ain't even close to being a shred of the problem...

The problem is that some twat got his rocks off playing cop and (even after he was told that he SHOULDN'T be following the poor kid because he wasn't doing anything wrong) shot an innocent kid to death.  I don't give a fuck what the kid was wearing.

It has come to my attention that 5 years ago, Neil Hope - Wheels from Degrassi (the real Degrassi not this new bullshit remake one) passed away right near my hometown in the city of Hamilton, Ontario.  Not so sure why it's only hitting the net now but his fiancee said that "...there was some confusion regarding his passing that they do not wish to go public with."  She also said he passed of natural causes at the age of 35 (yes, I know that's young for natural causes but I'm not even gonna get going on conspiracy theories that may or may not involve Snake and/or Joey Jeremiah...)

Anyways, as someone who grew up on that shit (and Catwalk, remember fucking Catwalk!?!)  RIP Wheels!

Whitney Houston's Family Told The Star Died From Pills Not Drowning

'Sa damn shame.

TMZ is reporting that Houston's family has been notified that though she was found underwater by her aunt, Mary Jones, the day she died, drowning was not the cause of death.

They have concluded that there wasn't enough water in her lungs to drown her - She appears to have died from a lethal cocktail of RX drugs including Xanax and alcohol.  Houston had made two impromptu doctors visits in just five days around the beginning of the month.  There is no evidence thus far that she received any meds during those visits.

Bobby Brown, who had been on tour, has returned to be with their only daughter, Bobbi Kristina.  She has been admitted to the hospital twice since her mother's passing and allegedly family is very concerned that the 18-year-old is suicidal.  TMZ reported yesterday that Bobbi Kristina has been "hysterical, exhausted and inconsolable."

Tough stuff for a teenager - kid's been through some times...Hopefully she'll be okay.

Whitney Houston - Dead at 48

Sad.

Earlier today, the Beverly Hills police dept. responded to a call at the famed Beverly Hilton hotel wherein staff and fire dept. officials (who were there on another call already) were trying to revive a woman staying on the fourth floor.  Later, that woman was identified as 48 year old superstar Whitney Houston.

There were no signs of criminal intent though police are investigating the cause of death.  She was pronounced dead at 3:55 PM.

The picture below is one of the final images of the singer taken Thursday in LA.  She was at a Grammy party and sang an impromptu song.  It would be her last performance.

RIP Whitney.  We will remember the good over the bad.  At least I will anyway.

WTF is Dripping Down Christina Aguilera's Leg?

Okay - so we all know that Xtina is a hot damn mess who is all about getting her drink on (allegedly) and wearing ill fitting leggings but what we didn't know was what the fuck was dripping down her leg a couple of days ago at Etta James (RIP - so sorry to drag you into this) funeral service.

Well, finally we have answers!  Meaningless, unimportant ANSWERS!!!

This is what her mouth piece said, "[Singing there] was her proudest moment.  The sweat caused her spray tan to streak."

What?

Why wasn't it "streaking" anywhere else then?  Is her vagina particularly sweaty?  Am I actually writing this shit in a blog post?

Whatevs.  Spray tan streaks or not, I think we can all agree by this point that Christina is a yucky, yucky girl now.

Florida Man With Mental Issues Allegedly Pepper Sprayed to Death By Police

Wowsa!  Keep in mind the corresponding article from The Daily Mail uses the words allegedly about 50 times, but the pictures are pretty damning evidence if you ask me!

The alleged horrible ordeal happened to a man (a grandfather) named Nick Christie who was arrested for public intoxication (this has been contested as tests given are unknown and he tended to get disoriented sometimes due to mental issues seeming drunk-like.)  He was released after the jail realized his mental issues but re-arrested two days later for trespassing at the hotel he was staying at.  He was acting erratically so the hotel called the popo...

After being arrested for the second time he was detained and pepper sprayed for being "belligerent" (he was actually experiencing a mental breakdown.)  Witnesses say he wasn't allowed to clean off the pepper spray (ouch) and that's when they put him in some God awful thing called The Devils Chair (a restraining chair) for punishment and shit got real ugly.

Restrained by the wrists, ankles, and chest in the chair naked, he was put into a spit mask (a thingy they put over your mouth so you can't spit on cops) and pepper sprayed several times.  Now, it should be noted here that since this poor guy wasn't allowed to wash off any pepper spray during the 43-hour (yeah that's right, 43 FUCKING HOURS) detainment the mask held the spray, exposing him to the effects until it wore off (that can be hours.)  Witnesses say Christie "pleaded" to have the mask removed because it was making it so hard for him to breathe but cops ignored him.

Aw fuck, man!  Breakin' my heart...

Two days later he was taken to the hospital as he suffered multiple heart attacks from the stress his body went through from the constant sprayings  (he was actually covered in so much pepper spray that doctor's had to change their gloves numerous times due to burning...tsk, tsk.)  Days after being treated he was declared brain dead and taken off life support.

Though the death was ruled a homicide (obvi) because he was exposed to so much pepper spray according to the autopsy, an internal investigation ruled that the police dept. did nothing wrong and no one was held accountable or fired.

The family is now going after the department for wrongful death though (thank god) so hopefully everyone can find a little peace in this fucking mess when someone is finally held accountable for basically torturing and killing a mentally troubled 62-year-old retired grandfather.

Damn!  Shame on them!
